2019 Chevy Corvette ZR1: The King of Corvettes is Back and Faster than Ever [News]

Historically, the ZR1 badge has been reserved only for the most bonkers, high-performance Corvette in the lineup. This 2019 Chevy Corvette ZR1 is no different. Chevy have once again taken the Corvette and added as much power and handling capability as they can into one package.

As with most American sports cars, the engine in the 2019 Chevy Corvette ZR1 is a huge point of focus. In this ZR1, Chevy have stuffed a 6.2L supercharged V8 that makes 755 horsepower and 715 lb-ft of torque. A 7-speed manual transmission feeds that colossal power and torque to the rear wheels. However, for the first time ever, Chevy is also selling the ZR1 with an optional 8-speed automatic, if you don’t prefer a row-your-own setup.

While the engine used to be the only thing about a Corvette that was actually fast, this C7 generation has made leaps and bounds in the world of handling as well. As such, Chevy have turned that up to 11 as well. Chevy have directly addressed issues from the Z06 Corvette by adding some massive radiators, four in total, to this ZR1.

As for aero, an adjustable High Wing is available as part of the new ZTK Performance Package. This includes a front splitter with carbon-fiber end caps, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 performance tires, and Magnetic Ride Control for a precise suspension setup. All in all, this setup can produce a total of 950 lbs of downforce. The ZR1 will definitely need that for stability as Chevy have claimed a top speed over 210 MPH.

GM has not announced pricing and release dates just yet. However, if I had to take a guess, I would put the starting price at no less than $100,000, if not more. Stay tuned to TFLcar.com for more news on the 2019 Chevy Corvette ZR1.
