Looking to Buy the New JL Jeep Wrangler? Pricing and Standard Equipment Details [Video]

A JLWranglerForums member discovered some pricing and standard equipment information for the recently-revealed JL Jeep Wrangler.

Last night at SEMA, the Jeep Performance Parts divisionĀ unveiledĀ parts you’ll be able to buy for the 2018 JL Jeep Wrangler. Rather than leaving money on the table for customers to turn to the aftermarket sector for parts, FCA is whetting buyers’ appetites by showing a catalog of parts ahead of the JL’s official unveiling in Los Angeles next month. After showing us all the goodies you can buy to upgrade your Jeep, FCA cunningly dropped some new official photos.

Upon first glance, the JL Jeep Wrangler doesn’t look allĀ thatĀ different from the outgoing JK. There are some distinct differences worth mentioning, however. The grille is angled a bit backwards, the headlights are integrated into the grille, and the bumper is more refined than before. Admittedly, the exterior changes are minor. Among Wrangler enthusiasts though, that’s the point. Like other long-standing models, FCA has tweaked the JL Jeep Wrangler to modernize it without ruining its traditional identity.

Now, for you prospective buyers or fans out there, we have some more interesting information. A JLWranglerForums member discovered pricing and equipment information that Jeep [inadvertently] posted online. Among that information is an MSRP for a 4-door JL Jeep Wrangler Sport of $30,445. That constitutes a $2,550 price hike over the outgoing JK, close to what was reported earlier in the year. Higher trim levels such as the Sahara or Rubicon will likely see greater price hikes compared to their JK equivalents. The forums also leaked aĀ full standard equipment listĀ for the JL Jeep Wrangler Sport, Sahara, and Rubicon models.

Other Rumors

Engines aren’t official just yet, but leaked information implies a couple different choices. One is the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 – a carryover from the JK Wrangler – with some possible refinements. Another option for the JL Jeep Wrangler later on may be a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder. A JLWranglerForums post from early August hints at a 3.0-liter V6 turbo-diesel as well, but FCA has yet toĀ officially confirmĀ these engine options.

In addition to the four-door Sahara Unlimited pictured above, FCA also showed the two-door Rubicon in its photo release. FCA made a few obvious changes, judging by the pictures,Ā including a body-colored roll cage and some new wheel options. Some old-school touches, at least in the Rubicon, include the folding windshield (whether it’s easier to use than the JK’s is a mystery), an actual handbrake and transfer case lever.Ā Rumor has it JL Wranglers will have an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Overall, as with the JK, the JL Jeep Wrangler is a nice mix of old-school and some new features. It should appeal well to its intended customer base, and TFLcar will be on hand to pass along more information as it becomes available.
