In a new sign of the importance of China to international auto makers, Porsche unveiled its new sedan at the Shanghai auto show.

The new Porsche Panamera made its official public debut to journalist to mark the opening of the Shanghi’s auto show.

Unlike America and Europe Auto sales rose by 10 percent in China last month. And in yet another milestone for the auto industry, new car sales in China have surpassed sales in America for the past three months.

“China is a significant growth market for Porsche with a
great potential,” said Klaus Berning, Porsche executive vice president of
sales and marketing.

According to the New York Times:

“Company executives said that the car would start at $89,800 in the
United States and more, sometimes much more, in countries with higher
taxes. The turbo version with a V-8 engine will cost 2.5 million yuan,
or $366,000, in China, which has stiff import taxes and heavy taxes on
family vehicles with large engines.”
