Who would have thought, an Aston Martin for just $32,000?

IQx

Can you see yourself in a Cygnet?

That's the name of the new tiny Aston Martin that will soon be cruising the streets of Europe.

But before you get your wallet out you should know that the Cygnet is a rebaged and somewhat pimped out version of the tin Toyota> Scion IQ (see above)  with "3+1" seating.

What's "3+1" seating?

You guessed it. Three in the front and perhaps one elf like human in the back…sort of like some other Aston Martin cars currently sold.

"This concept — akin to an exclusive tender to a luxury yacht —
will allow us to apply Aston Martin design language, craftsmanship and
brand values to a completely new segment of the market," Aston Martin
Chief Executive, Dr Ulrich Bez said in the announcement.

Cygnet

According to CNN.com:

"The nearly finished Toyotas will be shipped to Aston Martin's assembly plant in Gaydon, England. There, the cars' interiors will be trimmed in leather. Aston Martin will make no mechanical changes to the cars, but some cosmetic changes will be made to make them look like little Aston Martins."

In other words Aston will pimp the ride Aston style and sell the new car as an Aston Martin Cygnet.

BTW: The IQ is powered by a 1.0-liter engine that produces about 68 horsepower, and so far there are no plans to cell the tiny car (two feet shorter than a Mini) in the U.S.
