New York Times: There May Be a Smaller Ford in Your Future

Disarm the Patek Philippe. Park the Bugatti. Drain the last drops of Cristal. The party’s over.

That, at least, is what Ford’s futurists are thinking. “Our view is,
the era of excess has reached a tipping point,” George Pipas, the
company’s sales analyst, told journalists this week in Manhattan.
“People are moving from conspicuous consumption to more careful
consumption.”
