Weekly Drive Bentley Continental Supersports: Crazy fast and fun

IMG_1645

So how do you suppose you drive a brand new $286,845 Bentley Continental Supersports 600 miles when the manufacturer imposes a strict 200 mile limit?

Drive is backwards for 200 miles of course.

OK, so we kid Bentley…we would never try anything as childish as driving a 600 plus HP W12 AWD supepcar backwards just to roll back the odometer so we could put on a few hundred more miles on the car.

Besides the new electronic odometers don't go backwards…do they?

Seriously, the Bentley Continental Supersports (and yes "Suspesports" is plural) is one crazy fast and fun car.

Of course it doesn't help that ours is the hottest "give me a ticket now officer" red and that it also happens to be, "the fastest, most powerful Bentley ever," or so it even says on the car's sticker.

Sure the car can do a cool 202 mph and get to 60 mph in just under 4 seconds, but that's not what makes this car so much fun to drive. What really seals the deal with this Continental Supersports is that it must be the most capable and road trip worthy supercar ever built.

The Bentley is a big heavy brute of a beast with all-wheel-drive and enough cylinders (12) and turbos (2) to power a cigarette boat.

In fact the engine note sounds very similar to that of a cigarette boat as it softly growls at idol. Step on the gas and you get the instant whoosh of twin turbo power shortly followed by the race car like pop-off blast from the waste-gates, not to mention the roar from all 12 cylinders working furiously in a W formation as all four 20-inch wheels claw at the pavement in search of traction.

Did we mention this car was crazy fast and fun?

But here's the funny part. You don't really want to tear around the track in the Bentley. Oh no that would be way to vulgar for such a car. Instead when you settle into the stitched leather and carbon fiber draped cabin all you want to do is drive to Miami, Florida.

Not only does the Bentley belong cruising up or down South Beach, but it really wants to stretch its legs and take you on a road trip. And believe us ensconced in the finest leather, surrounded by premium sound, with a brute of an engine that holds the promise of effortless power at your big toe's bidding, you can't help but want to (no make that need to) take the Bentley Continental Supersports on an endless road trip.

So, does anybody know if the electronic odometers will roll backwards in reverse?
