We’ve all known someone who had a spouse or partner run off with another. I’ve personally known dozens of ladies and gents who have unwillingly separated from their beau. It’s a scary prospect and it’s something I pray never happens to me or anyone else I like. Still, as a writer and a jerk-savant I had to delve deep into the minds of some of these folks. I needed to know what they truly wanted to drive at various stages of their breakup.
I polled 10 men and 10 women –
First, we have a list of various automobile types that these people wanted.
Here’s what my research has uncovered:
Cars that represent the newly single person’s wish list:
Muscle Cars: Mustang GT, Camaro SS, Dodge Challenger SRT8 etc. – 30% male, 20% female
Fun cars: Mini Cooper Convertible, ’10 VW New Beetle Convertible etc. – 10% male, 35% female
Rugged adventure: Jeep Wrangler, Toyota FJ Cruiser, Nissan Xterra etc. – 30% male, 25% female
Luxury: BMW, Lexus, Infiniti, Mercedes Benz, Jaguar, Cadillac etc. – 25% male, 15% female
Other, less exciting cars -5% male, 5% female
No kidding.
Now here are the cars that these people actually bought (over the past three years):
1. 1999 BMW 5series (male)
2. 2009 Subaru Forester (female)
3. 2008 GMC Arcadia (female)
4. 2010 BMW 325i (male)
5. 2010 Toyota Camry (male)
6. 2008 Mini Clubman S (female)
7. 2009 Ford Mondeo (female)
8. 1995 Volkswagen Passat Wagon (male)
9. 2008 Lexus RX 400h (male)
10. 2009 Mazda5 (female)
11. 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 (male)
12. 2008 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara (male)
13. 1999 Range Rover (female)
14. 2006 Mitsubishi Endeavor (male)
15. 2009 Subaru Impreza WRX (female)
16. 2010 Hyundai Accent (female)
17. 2006 Toyota Matrix (female)
18. 2002 Honda Accord (male)
19. 2010 Dodge Charger R/T (female)
20. 2007 Honda Ridgeline (Male)
Of the ten guys polled from various backgrounds, ethnicities and religions – two got something similar to what they truly wanted.
Of the ten girls polled from various backgrounds, ethnicities and religions – five got something similar to what they truly wanted. That’s 50%!
What does this mean? I’m not too sure. I’m no sociologist, but I would say that the women tend to find something that makes them happy (at least with cars) more often than men. If you’re a vengeful type of guy and hope your “ex” is suffering – chances are good that she’s finding something to make her happy.
If this happens to you… please get a car that makes you happy.
The car below made me VERY happy… until I had to give it back.
