Confirmed: Chrysler to announce new entry-level pickup in 2011

Jeep-gladiatorconcept

This week the CEOs, top engineers and of course PR people of Chrysler’s Dodge, Ram and Jeep brands all got together at the 2011 Chicago Auto Show.

Dodge unveiled the all new 465-HP Charger SRT8, while the brand’s pickup division rolled out a new 3500 HD High Output Ram.

But perhaps the most interesting news we can share from a well placed source within the company is that Chrysler will announce a new entry-level light pickup this year.

Will it be a new Jeep Comanche?

Or perhaps Chrysler plans to actually build something like the Jeep Gladiator concept that the company rolled out about six years ago.

Or perhaps it will be a new baby Ram?

Our source wouldn’t say, but what we do have on good authority is that this year Chrysler will definitely announce a new entry-level pickup.

The small pick-up entry-level segment has been all but abandoned by car makers in the United States. The very long-in-the-tooth Ford Ranger continues to soldiers on, and the Mahindra pickup is still a no show.

We strongly believe that there is considerable pent-up demand for a small, capable pickup, and inexpensive pickup in America, and Chrysler now we know that so does Chrysler.

Stay Tuned!
