A list of the top ten fuel efficient cars is easy to put together, but have you ever wondered what’s the best fuel efficient car to purchase.

In other words, calculating the actual cost of not just buying but also owning and driving the car…which cars are the best buys?

The folks at Truecar.com just did the calculations and not surprisingly the most fuel efficient cars on the list are hybrids.

In fact none out of the top ten on the list are hybrids.
