By 2013 the new 2013 Chevrolet Malibu should be on sale in 100 countries on six continents according to General Motors.

So it would be hard to underestimate the value of the 2013 Chevy Malibu to the GM portfolio of cars around the world.

Recently in both New York and Shanghai, GM unveiled the newest version of their iconic family sedan. Check out the video below to see the New York Auto Show debut of the 2013 Malibu.

What’s new?

The 2013 Chevy will be powered by a new 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that pumps out 190 horsepower and comes mated to a six speed automatic transmission. That means that the old car’s V6 will be history.

The new ECO version of the Malibu gets a gas-sipping 2.4-liter 4-cylinder that is also paired to a 6-speed automatic, and it will come with GM’s light-hybrid eAssist system to help sip even less gas.

GM says the new ECO is EPA rated at 26 m.p.g. in the city and 38 m.p.g. on the highway. Prices for the ECO Malibu have yet to be announced but look for the standard 2013 Chevy Malibu to start at about $22,000 when it goes on sale.
