New 2012 VW Passat is bigger and a whopping $7000 cheaper

Volkswagen has just announced that the new 2012 Passat, which is being built now at a new factory in Chattanooga will be priced $7000, USD below the old model.

The entry level Passat will start at $19,995 (*plus $770 in destination charges).

That entry level price gets you:

170-horsepower, 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine

– 5 Sped manual transmission

-16″ steel wheels, six-speed manual transmission

– Automatic dual-zone climate control

– power locks & windows

– body color mirror and door handles

– Bluetooth connectivity

– steering wheel audio controls

– 8-way manual driver seat

-center armrest w/integrated storage box

Step up to the SE trim for $23,725 plus delivery and you’ll also get:

– 17″ alloy wheels

– V-Tex leatherette

– 8-way power driver seat and other niceties.

If you want the 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine in your Passat prices will start at $25,995 plus delivery, but for than you’ll also get 43 mpg on the highway.

Finally, if you want to get the big engined Passat with the 3.6-liter V6 power plant you’ll need to spend $28,995 plus delivery.
