No wind in the hair for Donald Trump at Indy 500 as he pulls out as pace car driver

In a short two sentence statement Donald Trump pulled out of his pace car driver duty at this year’s Indianapolis 500 today.

“I very much appreciate the honor, but time and business constraints make my appearance there, especially with the necessary practice sessions, impossible to fulfill,” Trump said in a statement.

“I look forward to watching the race from New York,” he added.

The real estate developer, turned reality TV show host, turned potential Republican presidential candidate, turned birther apparently stepped on a few too many toes recently when he demanded to see President Obama’s birth certificate as we reported in THIS story recently.

A Facebook movement to get Trump out of the 400 horsepower V8 Chevrolet Camaro pace car he’s supposed drive at the “brickyard” on Sunday, May 29 was started by Indianapolis attorney and Indy race fan Michael Wallack.

The so called “Bump Trump” movement has gathered over 17,000 signatures and perhaps is part of the reason why Trump withdrew from the race.

No word yet on who will replace Trump in the Chevrolet Camaro pace car later this month, but we suspect it won’t be hard to find somebody else to drive THIS special edition Camaro at America’s oldest and most prestigious track race.

Stay Tuned.
