Video: Watch Volkswagen’s Amarok small pick-up demolish a massive chimney

Do you suppose that a small VW pick-up could pull down a 154-ton chimney?

No.

How about four small VW pick-ups because that’s exactly what happens in the video below.

In Britain a demolition crew was getting ready to bring down a chimney when VW heard about it. So instead of blowing up the massive 220-foot tall smoke stack, Volkswagen brought in four small pick-up trucks.

In Europe, and much of the rest of the world, VW sells the new Amarok with a 2.0-liter turbo-diesel engine. In the video below each Amarok had a 656-foot rope tied to its bumper and to the top of the Chimney.

What happens next is pretty interesting, and you can watch it below, but keep in mind that the chimney was structurally weakened before the pick-up went to work.

BTW: If you live in the UK, you can buy an Amarok starting this month for about the equivalent of $35K.

We recently had the chance to ask VW U.S. Pres if Volkswagen would bring the car to our shores.
The answer? Probably not.

But VW says they’ll have to study the market a bit more before they completely rule it out.

Shame.
