The MINI Takes The States 2012 (#MTTS2012) cross country rally draws a big crowd as it makes a stop in Boulder, Colorado on it way to Los Angeles, California.  MINI USA organizes this biennial event to give thanks to its owner community and to support a charity.  This year’s rally started on July 4th in New York City with a goal to reach Los Angeles after 10 days on the road and covering more than 3,900 miles.

It is estimated that more than 8,000 people will participate in this event.   MTTS 2012 pledges a minimum of $10,000 to support the US Paralympic team.  Michael Johnston, a paratriathlete and U.S. Paralympic hopeful, is participating in the rally and challenges other MINI owners to join him on 5K run or 10 mile bicycling training sessions.  This year’s event also celebrates 10 years of MINI’s return to the United States.

MTTS 2012 rally shows the high level of commitment and loyalty of the MINI owner community, as well as displays their fun loving attitude.  Some legs of the rally require participants to start early in the morning and cover as many as 534 miles in a day.  However, they are rewarded by fun and scenic roads, great local food, stops at race tracks, stunt driving displays, concerts, and much more.  It’s fun to see all the different models and kinds of customized MINIs in the event.  You may see many kinds of custom paint jobs, all kinds of performance accessories and modifications, fun vanity plates, and the witty bumper stickers.
