Former NASCAR Driver, Dick Trickle, Dies from Apparent Suicide

Famous NASCAR driver Dick Trickle dies at 71 from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in North Carolina. He was a popular and well known racer with a long and successful career on the Short Track and the NASCAR circuit.  He won several Short Track championships and in 1989 at age of 48 he was named Rookie of the Year in the Winston Cup series and was the oldest driver to receive this title in the history of Winston Cup.

According to the police report, they received an anonymous call before the suicide on where to find the body.  Police in Boger City, NC arrived at the Green Lawn cemetery finding Dick Trickle next to his pickup truck.

Thoughts and prayers go out to the family during this sad time.
