This is the only photo KIA has released of the 2014 KIA Sedona. Notice the new nose?

The 2014 KIA Sedona returns to the KIA lineup with new lighting, a new grill and further refinement. The 2014 KIA Sedona comes standard with a 269 horsepower, 3.5-liter V6 matched to a six-speed automatic transmission. Prices for the 2014 KIA Sedona LX start at $25,900

There are only a handful of minivans left in the North American market. The 2014  KIA Sedona is aiming it’s affordable minivan against the likes of the Toyota Sienna, Honda Odyssey and the upcoming Ford Transit Connect Wagon (among others). With this type of competition, KIA needs to up their game and it looks like they have, especially with its feature content.

“Available in two trims, LX and EX, the 2014 Sedona incorporates an updated front bumper and grille, showcasing a sleeker appearance.  Other enhancements include 17-inch multi-spoke wheels (standard on EX, optional on LX), LED positioning lights and standard fog lamps across both trims.  All interiors now feature a unique storage console for iPads®1 and smart tablets, while the EX cabin offers standard leather trimmed seats, front seat heaters and automatic climate control.  The 2014 Sedona remains packed with power with its standard 3.5-liter V6 engine producing 269 horsepower and mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with Sportmatic®clutchless shifting.  The functional Sedona LX minivan begins at $25,9002 MSRP, plus $850 destination charge, and offers a number of standard convenience features, including air conditioning, SiriusXM™ Satellite Radio3, Bluetooth4 wireless technology with voice recognition, MP3 connectivity and steering wheel-mounted audio controls.  The uplevel Sedona EX begins at $30,900 MSRP plus destination charge.” – – KIA Media

Externally, the changes in the front of the 2014 KIA Sedona are somewhat mild when compared to the Forte and Optima, but these changes do bring the Sedona’s in line with the rest of the brand’s look. As we noted with the 2013 KIA

KIA goes on to say, “All Sedonas continue to maintain Kia’s traditional value proposition by offering a generous list of standard features and amenities.  In addition to the standard SiriusXM™ Satellite Radio, Bluetoothwireless technology, ABS, six airbags and a six-speed Sportmatic transmission, the LX trim also comes standard with air conditioning, sliding doors with power windows, power mirrors and door locks, cruise control, an AM/FM/CD/MP3/Sat audio system that includes an auxiliary and USB-MP3 input jack, captain’s chairs for the second row and keyless entry.  A Back-Up Warning System6 also comes standard and alerts the driver of an object in close proximity to the rear of the vehicle.

Moving to the EX trim adds leather trimmed seats, fog lamps, a heated six-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, four-way power-adjustable passenger’s seat, heated power mirrors, an eight-speaker AM/FM/CD/MP3 audio system with auxiliary input jack, auto-dimming rear view mirror with HomeLink®7, leather-wrapped steering wheel, power rear-quarter glass, trip computer with compass and a roof rack.  The EX trim also offers a standard rear-view-mirror camera display8 in addition to the Back-Up Warning System to help the driver better see surroundings and reverse more safely.

In addition to the LX and EX model standard equipment, the 2014 Sedona offers several optional packages for maximum convenience and entertainment.

  • The Power Package, available only on LX models, offers dual power sliding doors, automatic light control, 17-inch alloy wheels and auto-diming mirror with backup display and HomeLink®.
  • The Luxury Package, available on EX models, includes power sunroof, automatic rain sensing wipers, power-adjustable pedals, driver’s memory seat and mirrors.
  • A navigation system also is available for the EX trim, which includes Infinity®9 premium audio and speakers.”

The 2014 KIA Sedona will be in dealerships in

We know KIA is more than capable of successfully revising a vehicle as we noted in our off-road KIA Sorento video!

I think KIA needs to add their turbo four-cylinder to the 2014 KIA Sedona van to befuddle the competition.
