A Diamond In The Rough Begins To Shine: Restoring a Classic American Luxury Car

1978 Lincoln Continental Mark V Diamond Jubilee Edition

Roman has been restoring his Dad’s old 1978 Lincoln Continental Mark V Diamond Jubilee Edition over the last few weeks and it’s finally beginning to look like a classic American luxury car again.

There were only 5,159 of these built to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the company and they were only available in two colors. You could get it in Jubilee Gold or Diamond Blue, which is what this one is beneath all the years of grime.

Roman, along with his mechanic friend Ted Ax, have been fixing her up and the diamond is finally beginning to shine. They’ve gotten her cleaned up and running, and have even played a few dusty 8-track tapes (yup, the player still works), but they need your help deciding how to proceed with the restoration.

Watch the first four episodes in the series below, then leave your comments on what you think Roman and Ax should do next with this diamond in the rough.

Nicole Wakelin fell in love with cars as a teenager when she got to go for a ride in a Ferrari. It was red and it was fast and that was all that mattered. Game over. She considers things a bit more carefully now, but still has a weakness for fast, beautiful cars. Nicole also writes for NerdApproved and GeekMom.
