Check out the new $37,405 2013 Acura TL Special Edition

2013 Acura TL Special Edition
Acura has released a luxury value with the 2013 Acura TL Special Edition. With an MSRP of $37,405, the 2013 Acura TL Special Edition packs a lot of value at a fairly reasonable cost. The 2013 Acura TL Special Edition is on sale now.

Believe it or not, one of the more interesting upgrades is the keyless entry system. This intelligent system works like any other keyless key-fob by unlocking doors and whatnot. What makes it unique? This system has the ability for each key-fob to remember the specific person’s preferences. When one driver approaches and pulls on the driver’s door handle, all programmable driving components (seats, mirrors, entertainment, climate – etc) will configure appropriately. When the second driver approaches the driver’s side with the second key-fob and pulls the door handle, it will conform to that driver’s programmed preferences.

It’s cool tech. It also has a trunk release button hidden on the spoiler (unique to the 2013 Acura TL Special Edition) of the 2013 Acura TL Special Edition. The system will not lock if a key-fob is left in the cabin or trunk.

The 2013 Acura TL Special Edition’s power and transmission: “The front-wheel drive TL Special Edition features an all-aluminum 3.5-liter V-6 with single overhead camshaft cylinder heads and 24 valves, with the intake valves actuated by Acura’s VTEC® (Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control®) system. This compact and efficient engine produces 280 horsepower and 254 lbs-ft of torque (SAE net). A Sequential SportShift 6-speed automatic transmission operated by a straight-gate style console-mounted shifter is standard. For more spirited driving, a racing-inspired steering wheel paddle shifter system is standard and works when the transmission is in “Drive” or “Sport.” – – Acura Media

Now, there is a version of the Acura TL that I consider to be one of the best Japanese cars out there. It’s the $43,185 TL SH-AWD 6-Speed Manual with Technology Package. It has over 300 hp and one of the sweetest manual transmissions connected to an excellent AWD systems. It’s one of the best handling, most engaging and technically advanced Honda-based cars out there. It’s a bit pricey too. If you don’t need a sports sedan in this league, the 2013 Acura TL Special Edition gets you into the ballpark for considerably less.

The upgraded interior looks like a great bargain too.

2013 Acura TL Special Edition
“The 2013 TL Special Edition’s interior exemplifies Acura’s driver-oriented sport-sedan thinking, matched with outstanding luxury. Sweeping shapes and high-quality materials blend a luxury aesthetic with a feeling of advanced technology. A 10-way adjustable power driver’s seat and an 8-way adjustable power front passenger’s seat are standard. A power moonroof, 276-watt audio system with eight speakers, and dual-zone, dual-mode automatic climate control system with automatic humidity control are also standard. The 2013 TL Special Edition comes well-equipped with standard technology features including a Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink® wireless telephone interface, USB port connectivity, and a high-resolution Multi-Information Display (MID) on the center cluster. – – Acura Media

It’s been a few years since I’ve driven an Acura TL, but I know they are solid vehicles (with one of the highest safety marks in its class) and the revised exterior is not as polarizing as before. Considering the high quality that Honda/Acura imbue their vehicles with, and knowing how good the engineering is, this 2013 Acura TL Special Edition looks like a smart buy.
