Track Week: 2013 Honda Accord Sport reviewed on Race Track

2013 honda accord sport sedan

This is the forth installment of the TFLcar Track Week video review series.  Track Week is where we take every day cars and put them through their paces at the High Plains Raceway in Colorado.  TFLcar team attended the annual RMDE event put on by the RMAP association, and Roman wanted to see how these cars compare to each other on the race track.  So, we mounted the cameras and the SoloDL GPS data recorder, and Roman went out in search of the best lap times.

Today we have the 2013 Honda Accord Sport.  The Sport trim brings several tweaks to the base Accord.  The less restrictive dual exhaust system adds 4 horse for a total of 189 hp from the 2.4-liter four cylinder.  It has quicker steering ratio and slightly bigger front brakes.  It also use cool looking 18 inch wheel that wear performance oriented rubber.  These are all real enhancements to make the Sport model a better performer.

This Accord Sport had a CVT with paddle-shifter (although a nice 6-speed manual is also available).  The CVT is well executed and its manual mode functions like a traditional automatic.  It is a confident performer on the track.  The body roll is well controlled and the chassis is well balanced. The performance oriented tires do wonders, as Roman’s time suggests.

The 2013 Honda Accord Sport was the 7th fastest around the track.  Yep, it beat the smaller Juke NISMO and the Abarth Cabrio.
