Track Week: 2013 Audi S5 reviewed on Race Track

2013 audi s5 race track review video

We are now inside the top three in the TFLcar Track Week (top ten) video review series.  Track Week is where we take every day cars and put them through their paces at the High Plains Raceway in Colorado.  TFLcar team attended the annual RMDE event put on by the RMAP association, and Roman wanted to see how these cars compare to each other on the race track.  So, we mounted the cameras and the SoloDL GPS data recorder, and Roman went out in search of the best lap times.

Today we have the 2013 Audi S5 coupe.  The S5 was updated for the 2013 model year and it’s one of our favorite cars that we tested over the last year.  Yes, it did lose the V8, but the new 3.0-liter supercharged V6 (rated at 333 horsepower / 325 lb-ft of torque) is an absolute joy.  It’s backed up by a high performing 7-speed dual-clutch DSG automatic transmission.

On the race track, this motor pulls strong and sounds very good.  The car handles corners with great competence, as the rear active Sport differential allocates more torque to the outside wheel.  It also happens to be a comfortable luxury coupe.  We did see some brake fade after running on the track on a hot day.  However, it’s not to say that the S5 has weak brakes.  It’s just an area that could be improved further.

Please enjoy this race track video review, and come back again to see the rest of the top ten.  Tomorrow’s Track Week car is the bright yellow 2013 Camaro SS 1LE beast.
