Mercedes-Benz Is Using Chickens To Sell Its Cars

Mrecedes-Benz S-Class

What’s the first thing you think of when you hear the words Mercedes-Benz? Luxury. Performance. Elegance. Chickens? The latest commercial for the S-Class will have you forever thinking of Mercedes-Benz when you see chickens running around a farm.

The new commercial promotes their Magic Body Control found in the new S-Class. It’s actually a combination of suspension features that provide a smoother ride regardless of how rough and uneven the road surface.

It starts with Road Surface Scan which looks ahead of the vehicle to detect any undulations in the road via a stereo camera located in the windscreen. The camera is incredibly accurate measuring out at a distance of 15 meters with a height measurement accuracy of 3 millimeters.

If it sees an uneven surface, then the Magic Body Control sets up the car’s active suspension before it even gets to the rough spot. The result is a smoother and more comfortable ride. This is a continually adjusting system and it can make changes based on road conditions within fractions of a second.

It’s also able to affect each wheel individually to further refine the vehicle’s suspension. Hydraulic cylinders fitted to each of the four spring struts allows for this individual adjustability to create a better overall drive.

The Magic Body Control isn’t a standard feature, but is available as an option on vehicles with the 8-cylinder engine. There’s also adjustability with Magic Body Control so a driver can tailor just how much the system compensates for what is sees on the road ahead. Drivers can choose either Comfort or Sport settings, so there’s no worry that the car won’t be giving you the feedback you expect.

And here’s where the chickens come in. The latest Mercedes-Benz ad doesn’t feature a car, not even a glimpse of one, but instead shows pairs of gloved hands holding chickens swaying to the music. Their bodies move, but their heads stay centered. Because chickens apparently come equipped with organic Magic Body Control as a standard feature.

Makes perfect sense to me.

Here’s our video of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class Self-Driving. Let’s see a chicken do that…
