2014 bmw x4 concept

The 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show promises to have plenty of world and north american debuts.  Case in point – the lineup of all-new or updated vehicles BMW plans to show in LA on November 20, 2013.

2014 bmw i8 coupe

The 2014 BMW i8 Coupe is headlining the show and represents BMW’s interpretation of what a plug-in hybrid super-car should be.  It was designed as an electric or gasoline-electric hybrid from the ground up, as its futuristic design backs up the promise of efficient performance.  It goes on sale in Q2 of 2014 and will start at $135,700 (price without destination charges and before any government incentives).  BMW claims the i8 is capable of 4.4 second 0-60 mph sprint and a top speed of 155 mph, while also delivering 94 MPG.  The light weight 3,285 lbs (0,26 Cd) i8 is propelled with a total of 362 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque via a high-tech AWD system.

2014 bmw 435i convertible drop top

Next up is the 2014 BMW 4-series Convertible.  It replaces the 3-series convertible for 2014, and is based on the longer and wider chassis of the 4-series Coupe.  The new droop-top continues to use a folding hard-top roof as on the previous 3-series.  Predictably, it will be available in 428i and 435i configurations.  It goes on sale in Q1 of 2014 with prices starting at $49,675 for the 428i and $55,825 for the 435i convertibles.

LA will be your chance to see the BMW X4 Concept.  Yes, the X4 makes the appearance in concept form, as a production model will not go on sale until the end of 2014.  BMW hopes that the X4 will build further on the success of the existing X6 Sport Activity Crossover, by combining the capability of an X-series with the agility of a performance coupe.

2014 bmw 550i gt

The refreshed 2014 BMW 5-series will also be present at the show.  Both the sedan and the GT variants see a mid-cycle update for 2014 model year.  The 535ix and 550ix Gran Turismo sees a more extensive front and rear end upgrades to spruce up the styling, which has been a complaint in the past.  The GT is now available in two and all wheel drive.  The sedan is available with no fewer than five power-train options: 528i, 535i, 535d, 550i, and ActiveHybrid 5.  Of course, rear wheel drive or xDrive are still there.

Of course, all new electric i3, next generation 2014 BMW X5, the 3-series GT, and much more will also be shown in LA next month.  TFL team will be there, bringing you all the latest details, including videos of the reveals.
