Once again Jeep is adding another unique model to their Polar and Dragon special editions to debut at the 2013 LA Auto Show. The Willy’s special edition is a nomenclature that is reminiscent to the days of the first CJ’s (civilian jeeps) offered to hard working Americans. Interesting fact: Jeep also offered a Willy’s edition for the 2004 Wrangler with some very exciting options, but that model was poorly marketed. It’s still well worth an internet search. Yes, it was offered in dark green!
As for the 2014 Willy’s edition, it starts as the sport model offering several upgraded options. A Dana 44 with 3.73 and limited slip will help keep the BF Goodrich KM Mud Terrain tires in check. Those meats are mounted on special Willy’s only black 17 inch wheels. The side sills have rock rails similar to the Rubicon along with unique black Willy’s hood stickers. In addition, a specialty gloss painted front grill is added to give a bit of a modern flare. Jeep is tossing in a neat carrying bag that includes a tow strap, gloves and a d-ring for wheeling adventures.
The Willy’s is slated for sale early next year with a starting price of $25,795 for the two door. A four door will be offered starting at $29,595. Wait, a four door Willy’s? Well, once there was even the Willy’s station wagon.
