Detroit Auto Show plays host to the annual North American Car and Truck of the year award presentation.  The vehicles are selected from eligible all-new or refreshed cars, utilities, and trucks for the model year (2014, in this case).   The select 48 journalists/jurors go through two rounds of voting.  The first round is to identify the three finalists, and the second round to pick the winner of the three.

This year, the following three finalists quickly emerged: 2014 Cadillac CTS, 2014 Chevrolet Corvette, and the 2014 Mazda3.  In the end, the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7 Stingray received 211 points; Mazda3 185, and Cadillac CTS got 94 points.  It was the sixth North American car of the year win for General Motors.  The Corvette also won in 1998.
