Chevrolet is on a huge roll today. First, they swept the North American Car and Truck of the Year awards with the 2014 Corvette Stingray and 2014 Silverado pickup truck. And here we have the loud, bright yellow 2015 Corvette Z06.
Engineers took the C7 Stingray as the basis and began to make further performance improvements.
They added the monster super-charged 6.2-liter LT4 engine estimated at 625+ HP and 635+ lb-ft of twist. It sends this herculean force to the rear wheels via choice of two transmissions: 8-speed paddle shifted automatic or 7-speed manual.
The Z06 has a host of light-weight components and aerodynamic tweaks. All this makes for a highly capable race-track ready Corvette with so much downforce to let it put all the ponies to the tarmac and get amazing track times. In fact, the new Z06 is faster around GM’s test track than the venerable ZR-1.

“Our mission with the seventh-generation Corvette was to make the performance levels more accessible, enabling drivers to exploit every pound-foot of torque, every “g” of grip and every pound of downforce,” said Juechter. “It’s a philosophy we introduced with the 460-horsepower Corvette Stingray – and one that’s even more relevant with an estimated 625 horsepower at your beck and call.”
