Chicago: Volvo V60 And S60 Polestar Make Their US Debuts

The Volvo V60 Polestar and Volvo S60 Polestar made their debuts today at the Chicago Auto Show boasting 345 horsepower with 369 lb-ft of torque, a T6 powerplant, and matching tuned suspension.

The quickest factory Volvos ever in the US will be hitting showrooms here sometime this summer, but in very limited quantity of just 120 units. The Volvo V60 Polestar and Volvo S60 Polestar have both gotten multiple upgrades throughout from the chassis right through to the interior with enhanced seats and trims as well as Polestar-specific colors.

Both vehicles feature a more rigid structure with springs that are 80 percent stiffer than what’s on the standard S60 R-Design. There are also high-performance Ohlins shock absorbers, 20″ wheels exclusive to Polestar, and 14.6″ ventilated front discs with six-piston Brembo calipers and 11.8 ventilated rear discs.

The Volvo S60 Polestar and Volvo V60 Polestar will each be available in just two colors. You’ll have your pick of either Black Sapphire or Rebel Blue in a design featuring new front and rear splitters that increase down force and streamline airflow along with a new rear spoiler and diffuser. A 2.5-inch stainless steel exhaust with 3.5-inch tips finishes the back.

The vehicles will boast a turbocharged T6 six cylinder engine with a new twin-scroll turbo and new intercooler You’ll get a six-speed automatic with a new paddle shift system and a special Polestar-developed, Haldex four-wheel drive system that will give these vehicles some real kick. The Volvo V60 Polestar and Volvo S60 Polestar will make 0-62 mph in just 4.9 seconds with an electronically limited top speed of 155 MPH.

Pricing has yet to be announced with delivery to select dealer throughout the US expected to star in June of 2014.
