Preview: 2015 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe – You Finally Made It

2015 mercedes-benz s-class coupe debut

What can you do to stand out amongst the crowd of S-Class sedans?  How about a 2015 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe?  The all-new coupe is based on the sedan platform, but offers more dramatic styling nearly identical to the Concept Coupe shown at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show.  What you see here are the official images and information from Mercedes.  The S-Class Coupe marks the end of the line for current CL-Class.  Apparently, Mercedes wants you to relate its ultimate luxury grand touring car to its highly successful S-Class sedan.

When the S Coupe reaches showroom this fall, it will initially come in one configuration: S550 Coupe 4MATIC.  Don’t worry, you will still be able to choose from a dizzying array of optional technology and luxury equipment.  It will basically have all the options that the S550 sedan has, with one special addition.  The 2015 Coupe will showcase an “active curve tilting function”.  You may guess what it does.  The car watches the road ahead and when it sense an upcoming corner (within 49 feet), it will adjust the suspension to tilt the vehicle up to 2.5 degrees into the turn (similar to how you lean a two wheeled vehicle).  Result is a reduced lateral acceleration and a little better bite through the corner.

The interior of the Coupe is stunning.  You get all the finest materials and craftsmanship.  You can also get Mercedes’ “Magic Sky Control” panoramic roof.  It lets you turn the roof glass from transparent to opaque at a touch of a button.

You can expect to see this production Coupe make its public debut at the 2014 Geneva Auto Show next month (March 6, 2014).
