You probably heard the rumor about the face lifted 2015 Toyota Camry making a debut at the 2014 New York Auto Show. Well, Toyota has more up its sleeves. The company will show a refined prototype of the 2016 Toyota Supra.
This will be an evolution of the FT-1 Concept we saw earlier this year in Detroit. The updated prototype will feature a full interior and reveal the powertrain. Expect the highly anticipated return of the Supra to be powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.5L V6 with a new version of an all wheel drive system. There will be a rear-mounted 7-speed DSG transaxle to melt the rear tires, and a separate power transfer unit ahead of the engine to send partial power to the front. This system is basically the same to the one used on the Ferrari FF.
The interior will take inspiration from the Lexus LF NX crossover concept.
Expect the power output to be close to 600 hp. Nissan GT-R and any other road-going sports car better take notice! The next Supra will showcase Toyota’s most advanced technologies, including autonomous driving capability at lower speeds and a night vision display.
