The 2014 Denver Auto Show is about to open its doors to the public this afternoon, April 9th at 5:00pm.  One of the vehicles on display is the 2014 Jeep Cherokee – 2014 Rocky Mountain SUV of the Year.  This announcement came at the annual Charity Preview Party on April 8th as voted by journalists of the Rocky Mountain Automotive Press.

The all-new Jeep Cherokee comes in several flavors: Sport, Latitude, Trailhawk, and Limited.  The Cherokee comes with the segment exclusive 9-speed automatic transmission that targets improved fuel economy.  There is a choice of two engines: 2.4L I4 and a 3.2L V6.  You can get the Cherokee in front-wheel-drive only, but most will opt for a selection of 4WD systems.  The Trailhawk version is the most off-road capable with increased ground clearance, aggressive tires, and the most sophisticated Jeep Active Drive II system.

Journalist member of the Rocky Mountain Automotive Press voted the Jeep to the number one spot over the other two finalists: 2014 Range Rover Sport and the 2014 Subaru Forester.  All three of the these contenders are all-new for 2014 and have many outstanding features.  However, the Jeep rose to the top due to its efficiency, off-road capability, craftsmanship, and user-friendly features.
