Ford Explorer is the best selling three-row crossover on the market. It has a big lead over the Toyota Highlander and others. It also is continuing to grow and increase the lead. So, how do you improve on a good thing? The 2016 Ford Explorer is a facelift or an update to the current model. These close-up spy shots show the profile of the Explorer pretty much identical to what is in the showroom today. The doors, glass, and overall shape appear the same.

However, there is heavy camouflage on the front and the rear. The black and white covering does reveal a more pronounced grille opening. The front and rear facia are expected to be updated in any facelift. Perhaps, the updated Explorer will sport a more angular front-end? We will have to wait and see.

Also, there is emissions equipment on this test vehicle, so it may also have some new hardware under the hood. Could it be another EcoBoost? Perhaps, a 2.3 liter.

Here is the 2014 Ford Explorer going off-roading with a Jeep and Chevy.
