Is this a glimpse of the 2016 Lincoln MKX crossover that the company is preparing to fight against the best from Germany, Japan, America, and beyond? Lincoln has just launched the all-new 2015 MKC as well as the refreshed 2015 Navigator. However, the plan continues with the upcoming 2016 MKX as evidenced and hinted by the Lincoln MKX Concept the company showed in April of this year.

The next MKX will be a premium sport utility crossover available world-wide. It will be based on a chassis that also underpins the 2015 Ford Edge. However, Lincoln takes the styling to the next level as evidenced by the MKX Concept. If most of the design elements of the concept transition to the production model, it will make for a premium and attractive crossover that differentiates itself from the Ford cousin. Check out the grille elements that cleverly incorporate the headlights.

This prototype vehicle was one of the most guarded among the Ford and Lincoln vehicles we came across in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. It’s wearing much the same type of camouflage as the new Edge prototypes wore just a year ago. It looks like the current MKZ headlights peaking front behind the grille mask. Of course, the production model will likely use all-LED lights in front and the back.

This test vehicles accelerated very quickly from the stop light. The high altitude did not seem to affect it any, so the latest EcoBoost power train was surely under the hood.

Stay tuned as TFLcar brings you more information on this and many other new crossovers and cars.

In the meantime, check out this fun and informative TFLcar first drive of the 2015 Lincoln MKC.
