6. The CAR

This flick came out in 1977, and it was kind of creepy, right off the bat. Here’s the premise: For absolutely no reason, a highly modified, black Car terrorizes a small town… and that’s just about it… Yep, that’s the whole premise in a nutshell. There are a few scenes that I consider noteworthy/fun moments in the film. I dig the scene when the CAR, for no apparent reason, goes after a bicyclist on a bridge near the opening of the film.

The Car is evil man!

The Sheriff is played by James Brolin. His deputies cry a lot in the film; I guess that’s what guys did in the 70’s. The vehicle itself is a modified Lincoln Continental Mark III modified by George Barris. This film goes well with nostalgic buddies, beer and a late night.

5. The Hitcher

This 1986 film rocked my tiny teen-aged head when it came out. Rutger Hauer plays a homicidal-maniac/hitch-hiker and C.Thomas Howell is Hauer’s emotional punching bag. Don’t confuse this film for the remake with the 2007 Sean Bean remake. Lots of automotive action; thus, it makes it onto TFLcar’s list. Check out the way Hauer’s character “deals with” Jenifer Jason Leigh’s character!

Very cool flick to watch with a plate of Freedom Fries!

Stay tuned for number’s four and three coming soon!

Yes, yes, YES – “Maximum Overdrive” IS on the list!
