The all new TLX from Acura keeps many of the refinements that the luxury brand is known for, while stepping up the muscle a bit for its equally tasteful performance attributes. The new TLX features a more fine-tuned Honda 3.5 liter V6 that cranks out 290 ponies. The newest addition however is the all-new 9 speed automatic transmission which will transfer the power through Acura’s Super Handling All wheel drive system. The TLX gets to stretch its legs on the TFL test track with special guest Indy Car driver Justin Wilson behind the wheel. In near perfect track conditions for the test Justin puts the pedal to medal in an attempt to see how fast the TLX could lap the track with traction control engaged and in a normal everyday driving mode.

Hot lap number one, yielded a time of 1:17. For Hot lap number two, the traction control was disengaged and a sport mode was utilized. The result was a lap time of nearly five seconds better, at 1:12. The Acura TLX makes its way around the test track with fairly impressive numbers for a modern luxury car. Even more so, the TLX does its laps in the most planted and composed fashion, never losing grip or confidence in the capability of the car. The all new TLX looks to be a home run for the team Acura in mid-sized luxury car segment.
