The 2016 Alfa Romeo 4C Spider has made its debut this morning at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show. The 4C’s existing carbon-fiber structure was already capable of handling a drop-top version, so all Alfa Romeo needed to do was incorporate an aluminum roll bar and a bit of additional stiffening in other areas.

The 2016 Alfa Romeo 4C Spider will feature a stowable soft top along with an available carbon-fiber hard top element. Alfa Romeo says the hardtop is good for a 160 MPH top-speed run, with the vehicle achieving a 4.1-second 0-60 time while en route.

According to a Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) blog post, Alfa Romeo is set to debut eight new models by 2018, with the 2016 Alfa Romeo 4C Spider being the latest in that trend, arriving in showrooms this summer.
