The Jaguar F-PACE sounds like an odd name at first, but it is deep-rooted in Jaguar history. The “F” comes from the F-Type, and the “PACE” comes from a classic “Grace, Space, and Pace” promotion. Jaguar says that the new F-PACE combines all three into one vehicle: grace, space, and pace. It is the name of the first sports crossover by Jaguar, and it is slated to go into production and sale in 2016.
Check out these images of the F-PACE testing at high altitude of the Rocky Mountains. It still has a lot of camouflage, but overall shape is visible and very much resembles the Jaguar C-X17 Concept from 2013.
The F-PACE shares its aluminum architecture with the 2017 Jaguar XE sedan. The crossover will likely share the powertrains with the XE. They are the 2.0L turbocharged I-4 with 240 horsepower or the 3.0L supercharged V6 with over 300 horsepower. Naturally, the F-PACE will use the latest generation of Jaguar / Land Rover all-wheel-drive system.
It’s not yet clear whether the F-PACE will be designated as 2016 or 2017 model year for the United States.
