We get the first glimpse at the upcoming 2016 Cadillac CT6 in company’s Academy Awards commercial. The image is foggy and fuzzy, but the LED headlight shape is unmistakable.
This is the first look at the undisguised new flagship for Cadillac. We do know that the new big Caddy will have available all-wheel-drive and is about eight inches longer than the current CTS sedan. However, many other details and specifications are unknown.
Cadillac is changing its naming convention starting with the CT6. The “CT” prefix is reserved for the cars, and the “XT” is for the crossovers and SUVs. The CT6 is positioned above the current CTS and XTS, and it will likely do battle against the Audi A8, BMW 7-series, and Mercedes S-class. However, Cadillac filed trademarks on CT7 and CT8. Is the company leaving room above the CT6 for more luxurious offerings?
The CT6 should be formally unveiled at the 2015 New York Auto Show and go on sale at the very end of calendar 2015.
