2017 Ford GT in Liquid Silver

How do you keep a supercar like the 2017 Ford GT a secret, leading up to its world debut at the 2015 NAIAS? What was the design inspiration? What is it like to to be responsible for carrying the Ford GT torch forward? Why the EcoBoost V6?

TFLcar had all these questions and many more. Thankfully, Nick Nicoghosian, member of the Ford “skunk works” team and an exterior designer of the Ford GT, was available for an interview at the 2015 Chicago Auto Show.

We at TFLcar still do not know any additional technical specifications, other than the 3.5L EcoBoost V6 will produce “over 600 horsepower.” We do not know how much the car weighs, the drag coefficient, or a myriad of other essential data.

We do, however, get a glimpse into how much Ford sweated the details on the aerodynamics of this car. The carbon-fiber body is shaped for maximum efficiency as well as downforce. It should crack the 200-MPH top speed barrier, but just how much further is  yet unknown.

The next Ford GT is worth seeing in person – we cannot wait to see on the streets, roads, or racetracks of our glorious landscape.

In the meantime, watch this insider TFLcar video interview to get another look behind the scenes of the Ford GT.
