Ford Motor Company is recalling 390,000 vehicles made from 2012 to 2014 for a door latch issue that could potentially cause the doors to open while the car is in motion.

The Ford recall affects 2012-2014 Ford Fiestas built at the Cuautitlan assembly plant between Feb. 1, 2012 and May 31, 2013 and 2013-2014 Ford Fusions and Lincoln MKZs built at the Hermosillo Assembly Plant between July 1, 2012, and May 31, 2013.

Of the 389,585 vehicles affected by the recall, 336,873 vehicles are in the United States, with the rest in Canada and Mexico.

In the affected door latches, the pawl spring tab could break, which would make the door unable to latch. In the event the door does still latch, the broken tab could cause the door to open while driving.

Ford reported three incidents resulting from the faulty latches. Two incidents involved doors that bounced back open after failing to latch closed, and one incident involved a door opening while the driver was parking.
