The Wild Boar JK6 is not the first attempt at a fabricated 6X6 Jeep, but it is a damn good looking one; and that’s an understatement. What’s so compelling about the fabrication is the way the Wild Boar JK6 looks (nearly) factory-built. The rear end consists of a Currie Ford 9″ with Eatons coupled with CV drive shaft, one that can telescope several inches to mitigate binding and axle disconnect.
The Wild Boar JK6 is built by Tyrant Motorworks, in Huntington Beach, CA.
Because it’s an expedition/overland type of vehicle, the Wild Boar JK6 can be fitted with an additional gas tank which can give it up to a 1,000 mile range. No kidding, that’s what their representative told us on camera.
“Wild Boar’s JK6 goes offroad and in 6 wheel drive! Yes, true 6×6. Designed for long range, extreme traction, with it’s six wheel power and expanded load carrying capabilities. Throwing up six wheels of dirt! Yes, once again the JK6 Jeep is 6×6 (6 wheel drive) with a pass through drive shaft to the rear wheels. Order yours today or we can convert your Jeep JK four door. Once we do, you’ll have the ultimate off-road, high load, go anywhere, 6 wheel drive vehicle.
We maintain the same articulation the stock Jeep JK has but we do it will all six wheels. Here is our JK6 Jeep going through a creek bed. Our axle team makes axles that pass through do the military applications as well. The suspension and frame were designed by one of the best off-road specialist on the West Coast.” – – jk6wheel.com
The Wild Boar JK6 we saw was on display at the 2015 Overland Expo in Mormon Lake, AZ. Wild Boar builds other variants including soft-tops, Mopar V8s and can customize the vehicle to the customer’s desired specifications. Best of all, prices start at $30,000 for a conversion.
We will have an Overland Expo video featuring the Wild Boar JK6 soon. We hope to get our hands on one after we finish the Motor Mountain USA (MMUSA) run.
