John Cooper Works (JCW) stands for all out performance in MINI terms. Simply put, the 2015 MINI JCW is the most powerful MINI ever with 228 horsepower, and it has the chassis tuning to back it up.
However, it has another trick up its sleeve. It’s a remote button to force the exhaust butterfly valve to open for additional soundtrack and performance that can be purchased as an optional accessory upgrade..
The 2015 MINI John Cooper Works is powered by a turbocharged motor that produces 228 horsepower @ 5,200 rpm and 236 lb-ft of torque @ 1,250 rpm. That is a lot of torque down low for a car weighing 2,845 pounds with the manual transmission. An automatic transmission is also available, and MINI says the auto provides a quicker acceleration of 5.9 seconds to 60 MPH. Top speed is rated at 153 MPH.
Naturally, the suspension and the brakes have been gone over to provide even better handling and more stopping power with 4-piston calipers up front.
