Some incredibly amazing vehicles show up every year to the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb and this year had many notable entries. For 2015, a Porsche 918 Spyder was brought in for a few runs on the mountain to test the 918’s high altitude performance. This particular 918 Spyder was flown in by Sheik Khalid bin Hamad Al-Thani of Qatar and shifted its focus from drag racing to the hill climb competition for just one day of testing.

After receiving instruction from 2014 Time Attack 2 winner Fred Veitch, he then drove the mountain on race day as one of the sweep vehicles. No official word from the owner, but we strongly feel he will return in 2016 with a full effort and challenge the mountain in competition.

The 918 Spyder uses a mid-mounted V8 engine and electric motors at each rear axle to deliver awesome acceleration, launching the car from 0-100km/h in 2.6 seconds. Only 918 units of this limited-edition supercar were produced by Porsche.
