2016 Smart Fortwo

The next-generation 2016 Smart Fortwo may look similar to the previous car, but it is fully redesigned. It’s nearly four inches wider, while it retains the miniature signature length.

It’s powered by a brand-new aluminum turbocharged 3-cylinder engine with 89 horsepower and 100 lb-ft of torque. The 0-60 mph acceleration drops significantly over the outgoing model to 10.1 seconds. It has a choice of two transmissions: a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic.

The new Smart has the best turning radius in the industry, making it even more friendly to crowded and narrow streets of most major cities.

Smart engineers further improved the safety with additional ultra high-strength steel in the “safety cell” structure that protects occupants. The tiny car has 8 airbags, and an available host of driver aide safety technologies that include: cross wind assist and proximity collision warning.
