Rising a grand total of 1,235 above sea level is Charles Mound – the high point for the state of Illinois. Access is limited to the first full weekends in June, July, August and September, but the view is well worth seeking out. From the gate at the end of the gravel driveway on Charles Mound Road, the 1.2 mile gentle walk rises 255 vertical feet to its highest peak.

One of the best ways of experiencing America first hand is hitting the open road with the windows down. Or with the doors off when driving our 2015 Jeep Rubicon Wrangler Rubicon Hard Rock. The Motor Mountain USA (#MMUSA) team embarks upon an epic road trip this year by visiting the highest drivable roads of every state in the USA. Along the way Nathan, Roman, Andre and Emme will visit locales less traveled and uniquely American attractions that make the United States one of the world’s favorite tourist destinations.

As an added element of adventure to make it a little more interesting and to involve our viewer audience, TFL Car has commissioned 50 commemorative silver belt buckles that represent each state in the US. Upon each visit to a state, a belt buckle will be hidden for future discovery. With each episode of MMUSA, the GPS coordinates will be announced so some lucky person will find it. We only ask that you send us a picture of yourself with the belt buckle. Use the hashtag #MMUSA or #MotorMountainUSA, then you can tweet to us @TFLcar, Facebook us at TFLcar, email to roman@tflcar.com, or all of the above.

Watch as Nathan and Emme drive up Illinois’ highest mountain mound.
