Motor Mountain USA – Oregon

Nathan Adlen and Andre Smirnov take the road less traveled in search of the highest road in Oregon. Is this trail near Mount Hood and the famous Oregon coast? No. You have to look to the east part of this big state to find the road to the highest mountain top in Oregon.

Steens Mountain reaches up to 9,734 feet above sea level. It is a tourist, hiker, and camper destination. The last section of the road is gated and is a way for service vehicles to reach the antenna array at the summit. Yes, Steens Mountain top has very good reception.

If you are looking for stunning vistas, canyons, mountains, hiking trails, and camping areas, then the road up to Steens Mountain should be on your short list for Oregon. You will have to face over 26 miles of dirt roads with many washboard sections. However, this is also a place you could see a real cowgirl hard at work mending fences and doing other jobs on horseback.

The Motor Mountain USA (#MMUSA or #MotorMountainUSA) epic road trip is a celebration of all things American and the road less traveled. Nathan, Roman, Andre and Emme are driving a 2015 Jeep Rubicon Wrangler Hard Rock across the country to visit the 50 highest drivable mountain tops in all 50 states. Along the way, they will visit locations off the beaten path and the uniquely American attractions that make the United States one of the world’s top tourist destinations.

This trip is also about involving you in the adventure. TFLcar has commissioned 50 commemorative silver belt buckles, one for each state. We will leave a belt buckle somewhere in the state and will tell you the coordinates, so you can find it. The first person to find it keeps it. The only requirement is you need to send us a picture of yourself with the belt buckle. You can tweet to us @TFLcar, Facebook us at TFLcar, use the #MMUSA, or #MotorMountainUSA hashtag, email roman@tflcar.com, or all of the above.
