BMW poured all their engineering and technological skills into their redesigned 7 Series flagship model. Exterior styling has been massaged mixing characteristics from the previous generation 7 Series with BMW’s newest design DNA that can be seen in the 3- and 4-Series. The signature BMW kidney grille is flanked by sleek ‘Laserlight’ laser-based headlights – the same type used on the i8. The interior gets a more modern feel and a host of technological advances that make a big leap forward. Look for the iDrive infotainment system that gets touchscreen and gesture control for the first time, a 3D view camera, a touch command tablet that controls various cabin functions and an onboard exercise program, plus wireless phone charging. Other advances include Carbon Core passenger cell technology that contributed to saving 190 pounds and four-wheel steering combined with four-wheel drive (on models fitted with the xDrive system).

When it goes on sale in the USA this fall, the new 7-Series will be offered in the following models: the 750i xDrive with a redeveloped 445 horsepower 4.4-liter turbocharged gasoline V8, and the 740i with a 320 horsepower 3.0-liter turbocharged six gasoline – both with 8-speed automatics.

BMW Concept M4 GTS

BMW revealed the concept at Pebble Beach this past summer, but the official North American debut of the M4 GTS will be at the LA Auto Show. The BMW M4 GTS gets a performance lift from the use of water injection to lower combustion temperatures, and thereby boosting efficiency and performance with the added benefit of reducing stress on parts. The M4 GTS develops 493 bHP, which is 68 more ponies than standard M4. A race tuned chassis, lightweight parts from the M performance catalog, and less weight further define the M4 GTS.
