Mercedes-Benz G-Class has earned a worldwide reputation for exceptional durability, toughness, and refinement. Its go-anywhere attitude is supported by world-class engines, plenty of technology, and a heritage steeped in tradition. The 2016 Mercedes-Benz AMG G65 is an old school off-road vehicle that’s become an iconic urban transporter for the rich and famous. But can this former poster child for off-road prowess still go into the Moab wilderness? To find out just watch this off-road review.
The latest model from Mercedes-AMG in the new G-Class is the G65. As the most powerful and expensive SUV in the line-up, it commands a princely sum of $219,700.
The visual impact of the Mercedes-AMG G65 SUV is nothing short of astounding. Even more eye-brow raising is the hand-crafted AMG biturbo V-12 under the hood that can drive the three ton SUV from zero to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds. With 621 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque at its disposal, the G65 has enough muscle to move mountains.
Many hours were spent designing the finer details of the beautiful interior. The bespoke cabin is grandly decorated in fine Designo leather that covers the door and instrument panels; the comfortable seats are upholstered with a diamond pattern and the headrests are finely finished with AMG’s Affalterbach logo. Additionally, the world-class interior of the G65 is rounded off by the Designo piano black and Designo floor mats.
