Is This The Next Nissan Rogue Caught During A Towing Test?

Nissan Rogue

Thanks to a TFL reader and viewer who goes by the alias “Zaphod58,” we have what appears to be spy shots of the next Nissan Rogue performing a towing test. The front of the vehicle is unmistakably Nissan but the company has made a departure from its norm when it comes to the creases on the side. While the 2016 Rogue is as smooth from any angle as a stick of butter sitting in the sun, this one has been pinched and pressed to create something slightly BMW X Series-ish from certain angles.

The suspicion that this is the next Rogue is reinforced by Nissan’s comments during a recent drive event for the Titan half-ton pickup, Armada, and Pathfinder that the company will be announcing a new crossover in the near future. In fact, it has several vehicles it promises to bring to the table once the extensive rollout of the new Titan pickup is complete. Could one of them be the next Xterra? That would be nice but we’re not gonna hold our breath.

If this is the next Nissan Rogue it could appear as either a 2017 or 2018 model. In either case, its new lines should help stay up with the edgier design language set forth by the likes of the Ford Escape and Hyundai Tucson. Until we know more, check out one of the best sellers in the segment, the refreshed Ford Escape.
