Top 6 Sports Car Bargains: How to Have Your New Sports Car Cake & Eat It Too! [Video]

Car enthusiasts come in all kinds of different forms. Some are extremely wealthy and can afford to have the latest greatest supercars that can cost anywhere from $100,000 to $1,000,000. However, most of us are not in that echelon of wealth and we have to look for less expensive ways to enjoy our passion. So, to help the everyday car enthusiast, we have compiled a list of the top 6 sports car bargains: how to have your new sports car cake and eat it too!

This list is not necessarily full of cheap cars, though. We made it to show how you can buy a new sports car that shares technology with some of its brand name siblings, but for a significant discount. What this means is that you get a lot of the fun of the best sports cars these companies have to offer, but you aren’t paying the full premium price tag.

One of the car’s on this list, and I may be a little biased here because I own one, is the Volkswagen Golf GTI. The GTI shares many components with its bigger brother, the Golf R. They have the same engine block (different turbos and tune), same chassis, same transmissions, same seats, same interior, and if you get the performance package, the same brakes.

The biggest difference is that the GTI costs roughly $13,000 less than the Golf R. Now of course you don’t get the AWD, the dynamic chassis control, and the extra 80 horses, but for such a large discrepancy in price there is not a large difference in performance and fun. Plus, the GTI gets better gas mileage! The point remains: you get many of the same features of the $40,000 car on a car that costs just $25,000.
