The folks at Ford have also been having a productive year at SEMA with a very interesting double reveal made today. The first, and likely the more relevant part of this reveal for a majority of consumers is the introduction of the Ford Performance smartphone app. This app supposedly brings “track-based data-logging, advanced analysis, sharing capability and video capture” to your smartphone to be used in conjunction with a Ford vehicle’s SYNC3 system. It will allow you to record and share track information from your smartphone in order to have a more complete track experience. According to Ford, it will be available on most smartphone platforms in 2017.

All-New Ford Performance App

Also a part of this reveal, and what is sure to be the more exciting thing I mention in this article is the reveal of the all-new 2017 Ford Global Mustang GT4 turnkey race car. The mustang has a very rich racing heritage, which Ford hopes to keep alive with the introduction of this turnkey racer. Able to compete in any GT4 series in the world, such as the Grand Sport class of IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge, Pirelli World Challenge GTS and European GT4, this mustang can bring the intensity of GT4 racing to your collection.

It would seem then that this GT4 racer is the perfect vehicle with which to use the Ford Performance app once they come out, which could explain why the two were revealed together. After all, the car is based on the ever-desirable GT350 platform, so you are going to want a reliable way to analyze what is going on with the 5.2L V8 powering the GT4 race car.
