Alfa Romeo Stelvio is a Crossover with 505 HP, Racing DNA and AWD [Video w/ Exhaust]

Can 505 horsepower, four doors, a hatch, and AWD be a bad thing? No! The good thing is, it’s precisely what the all-new Alfa Romeo Stelvio promises as it makes its debut at the 2016 LA Auto Show.

The Stelvio is based on an AWD version of the Giulia platform. This also means that it can take the twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 engine from the Giulia Quadrifoglio edition and use its 505 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque to send power to all four wheels via the 8-speed automatic transmission.

Italian style, crossover practicality, and high performance can make it a very strong contender and make the likes of the Porsche Macan and Cayenne, BMW X5M, Mercedes-Benz GLE and all others take notice. Will it take sales away from the Maserati Levante? It’s possible, but the Levante leans a little more on the luxury side of the spectrum, while the Stelvio appears to hit the high performance side.
